Daniel Seddon

ATC Operational Safety & Change Specialist

Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans)

With over 10 years of ATC experience Daniel has had exposure to most elements of service delivery with regard to Air Navigation Service Provision. Daniel’s first posting was at London Heathrow Airport as an Air Traffic Controller, he eventually went on to become a Tower Supervisor and was part of several working groups across the Airport. These groups included the Heathrow Manoeuvring Area Safety Team and he was also a member of the UK CAA Ground Handling Safety Team.

During his time at London Heathrow Daniel spent time working within both the Safety and Operations departments and this enabled him to develop a well-rounded understanding of operational influences and regulatory requirements. After some time working for the QCAA in Qatar, Daniel moved to Dubai and validated his ATC license at DXB Tower. After several years of ATC he moved away from the operation to primarily focus on his passion of Aviation Safety and now works in the dans Safety & Security department working within Project Safety.

Over the course of 2018 Daniel was instrumental in the development of dans UTM map solution that was conceived in conjunction with several other dans departments. The dans UTM map solution provides a safe framework in the immediate vicinity of an airport for drones to operate within, whilst allowing IFR/VFR traffic to operate normally. Daniel authored the safety assessment that was has been well received by both the Federal and Local regulators in the UAE.
