George Rhodes

Assistant Director Safety and Flight Operations, ATM Africa & Middle East


George Rhodes has been in the aviation industry for over 37 years.   He is currently the Assistant Director of Infrastructure with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Amman, Jordan.
George started his career with the United States Air Force in Air Traffic Control (ATC), both in for Tower and Approach, followed by 26 Years with the FAA. Following the FAA he accepted the challenge to work in Iraq to develop a structure for ATC training as well as Safety Management and incident investigations. After this challenge he accepted the position as the Air Operations Manager for the country of Bermuda of which included many roles to include ATC, aviation security, AIS, Aerodrome Operations, Safety Management, Weather, Airspace and Ground Electronics. Having the opportunity to return to the Middle East he is now with IATA providing his experiences to assist in the continuing development of safety and efficiency within the region.
